Wide-eyed at Tinuy-an Falls

Travel date: May 12, 2014 Living in the Philippines is like living in paradise. Most of us just don’t know it. Our country has over 7,107 islands and you should have at least visited a few of it and explored its beauty.   There are so many majestic waterfalls, river, lakes, caves, and many other types of scenery worth exploring. One of the many amazing places I have visited is Tinuy-an Falls in Bislig City, Surigao Del Sur. I have never heard of it before but I heard about it from my aunt while I was visiting her in Cabadbaran, Agusan del Norte. It was not part of our itinerary but since we were already in the area we did not hesitate to go there. Me and my friend Tweety decided to commute going there but thankfully my aunt and uncle offered to drive us there. So, we drove from Cabadbaran City all the way to Bislig for around three hours. Our trip there was an adventure in itself because we took the uphill road. We left Cabadbaran at exactly 5:00 am. The mountain roa

Travel Date: June 15, 2014 “Canyoneering - is traveling in canyons using avariety of techniques that may include other outdooractivities such as walking , scrambling , climbing , jumping , abseiling ( rapelling ), and/or swimming .” http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canyoning One of the greatest realities that everyone has to face is that life has to be an adventure otherwise it would not be life at all. Experiencing the beauty of life entails embracing everything around you and not forgetting nature. Yesterday,15th of June 2014, me, my aunt and friends went on a adventure of a lifetime.  Urban folks as we are, we explored nature like we never did before. We went canyoneering at Badian , Cebu .What we basically did was trek, jump, swim, climb boulders, swim, jump, jump, jump. We did this for 6 short hours. None of us have tried it before and none of us are trekkers, climbers, or expert swimmers. Anyone who is not afraid to jump heights, swim ice c

Tumalog Falls: A Majestic Curtain

Image
I didn't know Tumalog falls existed until the locals told us that it is another one of Oslob's attractions. when you get here you will be awestruck at how picturesque one place could be. the water from the top comes from small springs making their way to a pristine tub of cold and calm water. the greenery surrounding the falls adds up to its beauty. Groups of bamboos highlight its landscape. There are tables for rent provided by locals. You can have lunch there with your family while enjoying the view of a wonderful natural liquid curtain. The journey to the falls is not so easy because you get to walk for 500 meters on descending and ascending cemented and rough roads. But despite the path, the view at the end is indeed rewarding. You can get to Tumalog falls by simply hiring a multicab (120 php per head) or motorcycles (120php per head) to the mountain. Only motorcycles are allowed to drive all the way to the fall's. You can choose to pay 30php for a one

Swimming with Gentle Giants: Our Oslob Whale Shark Experience

Image
Besides homo sapiens, whale sharks are very amazing creatures. they are so gentle and obviously huge. Some have the wrong impression about how folks in Oslob resorts have exploited them for money but this is not the case. Yes, they bring money to the locals but some international animal loving organizations are taking care of them too and tracking their whereabouts. No, they are not trapped in pens. they only entertain people from morning to lunch time and after lunch they go strolling around the ocean. I am so lucky to have swum with them. If you want to have a memorable whale shark experience you can simply take a 20 minute minute fast craft ride from Sibulan to Lilo-an Cebu then hop on a 30 minute air conditioned Ceres bus ride to Oslob. The bus driver will simply drop you off the resort where you can register for the ultimate whale shark adventure. You can also ask the driver to drop you off at the Briefing area.  When you reach the resort, you have to regis
